The Right Time to Sell Your Home
Prior to putting your home up for sale, you may want to consider the timing of it. Choosing the right time to sell your home can result in a better offer.
If you have lived in the same home for several years, you may have equity you can use for a down payment on your next house. But, there are lots of costs to consider when moving. For example, moving trucks, storage units and of course, enlisting the help of movers. These costs are likely to be thousands of dollars and can disrupt the joys of experiencing a new living environment. It is important to take into account your price range – what you can and cannot afford – when looking for a new home, also.
The best way to do that is to speak with a lender up front to determine how much money you will be approved for before you start home shopping.
When searching for the perfect home, we can often find ourselves looking in price ranges out of our budgets. However, if you know that you are interested in upgrading or downsizing, you will be better off when narrowing your search parameter.
Finally, the seasonality of the real estate market can play a large factor in the timing of when to sell your home. It has been proven that the spring and summer are the best times of the year to put your house on the market. School is out and people can often take time off from work. School being out also makes it easier for families to look around in different school districts and allow their children to complete the school year in the same house.
No matter when you decide to put your house on the market and sell the place that you call home, you should consider what you are looking for and what is the most feasible for your situation.
